FERMA FLAGS OFF – “OPERATION CONNECT YOUR DESTINATION” FOR SMOOTH YULETIDE TRAVELS

The Managing Director/CEO, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, FNSE, today, flagged off the Yuletide easy passage initiative known as “Operation Connect Your Destination” on the Abuja-Keffi dual carriageway. This critical route links the entire North-Central to the Federal Capital Territory and other parts of the country.

Speaking at the event, Engr. Agbasi highlighted FERMA’s strategic role in enhancing the nation’s economy, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to improving the socio-economic value of roads. The road maintenance/rehabilitation program aims to provide road users with well-maintained roads, particularly during the Yuletide period when travel is heightened.

Representing the Federal Road Safety Corp State Commander of Nasarawa State, SRC. D. Gidago, the outpost Commander (Goshen-Nyanyan), expressed appreciation for FERMA’s innovative efforts to enhance road safety and make the roads more motorable, ensuring the safety of motorists.

Olu Adekunle, Special Marshal and Unit Coordinator of Nyanyan-Aya, praised FERMA’s humanitarian intervention, acknowledging the challenges posed by the deteriorated condition of the Goshen-Nyanyan spot on the route.

The Head of Direct Labour (FERMA), Engr. Sani Abdulkadir explained that “Operation Connect Your Destination” aims to facilitate smooth traffic flow nationwide during the Yuletide season. The program targets 36 major Federal roads across the Geopolitical Zones in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works. He urged road users and stakeholders, including the Federal Road Safety Corp, to collaborate with FERMA to sustain the initiative beyond the Yuletide Season. According to him, FERMA plans to address critical road failures across the country from now until mid-January.
